The key thing a VLE can be is the meeting place and enabling technology for all parties to use any available tools. <br /><br />For that to work, all tools would need to have interfaces defined interfaces using common standards such as RSS, XML etc. The VLE adds the institutional information (user details, course enrolement) which in turn provide a framework for both parties to easily navigate and understand the context of information. <br /><br />The VLE would probably include at least rudimentary tools for both parties should they choose not to go hunting for alternatives, and should be capable of providing a minimum set of tools too.<br /><br />It could be hosted internally or externally (a cloud solution). <br /><br />I don't believe we're anywhere close to this currently with any existing tech, but it would seem a useful aspiration to keep in mind?Nick Sharratthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12838179138437644320noreply@blogger.com
